Grantee wins Nobel Peace Prize
The National Endowment for Democracy is proud to congratulate Tawakkul Karman, leader of NED Grantee Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC), on winning the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize. WJWC has been active in Yemen since 2007, when Karman first began organizing regular demonstrations against corruption and restrictions on press freedom. more |

"The Arab Revolutions: Democracy and Historical Consciousness" will be Dr. Abdou Filali-Ansari's topic at the Eighth Annual Seymour Martin Lipset Lecture on Democracy in the World.
The Lecture will be held October 26, 2011, at the Embassy of Canada. Filali-Ansari is a professor at Aga Khan University's Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisation. more
